200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Intensive – For Certified Yoga Teachers

The A.W.A.R.E. Method
Advanced Immersion

A Special 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training Intensive Course For Yoga Teachers

A month-long deepening for certified yoga teachers ready to refine their craft, their reasoning, and their presence

5 – 30 January 2027 / Check-in 4 Jan · Check-out 31 Jan / Led by Davin Jones + Rishikesh faculty / Rishikesh, beside the Ganga

TRAINING VISION

For Teachers Who Are Ready To Go Deeper

You already know how to teach a class. You’ve completed your 200-hour, or perhaps your 500-hour, and you’ve stood in front of students, given cues, held space. This training is not a repeat of that beginning. It is what comes after — the deepening that happens once the basic vocabulary of teaching is in place, and the real questions start to surface.

The A.W.A.R.E. Method Advanced Immersion is a four-week intensive for certified teachers who want to move from knowing the postures to understanding the person — refining their clinical reasoning, their biomechanical literacy, their breath-work, and their capacity to hold ethically sound, genuinely useful space for the students who will one day stand in front of them.

Set in Rishikesh, on the banks of the sacred Ganga, the training pairs rigorous modern movement science and teaching methodology with immersion in living yogic tradition — philosophy, Kundalini teachings, ceremony, and daily practice — so that depth is built on both sides of the discipline: the scientific and the sacred.

This training will not ask “how do I teach yoga?” so much as “why am I teaching this, to this person, in this moment — and what does real service look like here?”

WHO THIS IS FOR

Built For Certified Teachers, Not Beginners

This is an advanced, teacher-only training. It assumes a working knowledge of foundational asana, basic anatomy, and classroom teaching — and builds directly on top of it.

  • You hold a 200-hour or 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification (Yoga Alliance, YCB, or an equivalent recognised body)
  • You are currently teaching, or preparing to teach, and want to sharpen your reasoning rather than collect more sequences
  • You want a teacher who can explain not just what to cue but why — biomechanically, energetically, and psychologically
  • You are ready to examine your own patterns, blind spots, and teaching identity alongside the material

Graduates receive a Certificate of Advanced Training from Tratak Yoga Academy and continuing-education hours suitable for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education requirements.

LEAD FACULTY

Meet Your Lead Teacher

Davin Jones

500 E-RYT · Educator · Mentor

13+ yrs – Teaching experience / 12,500+ Teaching hours / 15 Countries taught in

Davin’s work sits at the intersection of traditional yoga, movement science, breathwork, and human development. Having spent years studying and practicing within living yoga traditions across India and South Asia — while also undertaking extensive study in biomechanics, nervous-system regulation, attachment theory, somatic awareness, and contemporary psychotherapeutic approaches — he has developed a teaching style that bridges ancient wisdom with modern understanding.

Rather than treating yoga solely as a system of postures, Davin teaches it as a path of self-study and transformation — one that includes the body, breath, mind, emotions, relationships, and the deeper questions of what it means to live consciously. His trainings weave together yoga philosophy, meditation, functional movement, breath mechanics, developmental psychology, and embodied inquiry, helping students cultivate greater freedom of movement, emotional resilience, self-awareness, and authenticity.

Known for making complex concepts accessible and practical, Davin helps practitioners and teachers understand not only how they move, but why they move the way they do — physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Whether teaching handstands, mobility, meditation, philosophy, or teacher trainings, his intention stays constant: to honour the depth of the yoga tradition while helping modern practitioners discover a more honest, embodied, and meaningful relationship with themselves.

Rishikesh local faculty will co-teach throughout the training, holding the traditional pillars of the course — Ashtanga Vinyasa practice, Kundalini philosophy and practice, pranayama, Sanskrit and mantra, classical yoga philosophy, and the ceremonial life of Rishikesh itself. Their presence keeps the training rooted in a living lineage rather than an imported interpretation of it.

THE FRAMEWORK

The A.W.A.R.E. Method, Revisited at Depth

You met A.W.A.R.E. in your foundational training as a way of organising a single posture. Here, it becomes a lens for organising an entire teaching practice — how you observe a room, reason through an adjustment, and evolve your own voice over years, not weeks.

A – Align

Move from applying alignment cues to understanding the individual’s structural logic — what organisation actually serves this body, in this moment.

W – Witness

Sharpen observation until you can read compensation, effort, and emotional undertone before a student says a word.

A – Activate

Refine your sense of “how much is enough” — recruiting exactly what a movement requires, no more.

R – Refine

Build real clinical reasoning: modify, regress, or redesign a cue in real time based on what you’re witnessing.

E – Evolve

Locate your own authentic teaching voice — separate from mimicry of any one teacher, including this one.

Curriculum

200 Hours, Redesigned For Practising Teachers

The hour distribution below shifts the weighting of a foundational YTT toward the areas that matter most once you’re already teaching: clinical reasoning, nervous-system literacy, sequencing intelligence, and the psychology of the teacher-student relationship — while still honouring asana practice, philosophy, and the sacred dimension of the tradition.

MODULE 01 – 40 hrs

Embodied Practice & Advanced Asana Exploration

  • Daily practice refining Ashtanga Vinyasa foundations at an advanced level
  • Arm balances, inversions, and backbends explored through intention rather than aesthetics
  • Functional preparation, regression and progression pathways for mixed-ability students
  • Building and sustaining your own intelligent, evolving self-practice as a working teacher

MODULE 02 – 40 hrs

Functional Anatomy, Biomechanics & Clinical Reasoning

  • Advanced joint mechanics, load management, and individual skeletal variation
  • Ground reaction force, relative motion, and compensatory movement patterns
  • Pain, injury, and the honest limits of a yoga teacher’s scope of practice
  • Case-study based reasoning: real student presentations, worked through as a group

MODULE 03 – 35 hrs

Teaching Methodology, Voice & the Teacher-Student Relationship

  • The Intention → Observe → Decide → Cue → Reassess process, applied under real classroom pressure
  • Attachment theory and nervous-system regulation as they show up in a classroom
  • Developing an authentic teaching voice distinct from imitation of any one lineage or teacher
  • Receiving and integrating feedback; reflective practice as an ongoing discipline

MODULE 04 – 25 hrs

Advanced Sequencing & Class Design

  • Thematic, peak-posture, and breath-led sequencing for varied group compositions
  • Designing a coherent energetic arc across a full class, workshop, or multi-day arc
  • Sequencing as the deliberate organization of experience, not the arrangement of postures

MODULE 05 – 25 hrs

Philosophy, Self-Enquiry & the Psychology of Practice

  • Deeper study of the Yoga Sūtras, the Bhagavad Gītā, and the kleśas and vṛttis in lived practice
  • Contemporary psychotherapeutic approaches read alongside classical yogic psychology
  • Karma, dharma, and responsibility as they apply to the role of “teacher”

MODULE 06 – 15 hrs

Pranayama, Meditation & the Subtle Body

  • Functional breathing assessment and diaphragmatic mechanics at a teaching level
  • Nāḍī śodhana, ujjāyī, bhrāmarī, kapālabhāti, and appropriate contraindications
  • Prāṇa, nāḍīs, and cakras related back to embodied, teachable experience

MODULE 07 – 10 hrs

Kundalini, Kriya & Sacred Practice

  • Traditional understandings of Kuṇḍalinī Śakti, held with appropriate context and pacing
  • Selected kriyas, mantra, mudrā, and bandha, led by Rishikesh faculty
  • Discernment and grounding around intense energetic experience

MODULE 08 – 5 hrs

Adjustments, Assists & the Ethics of Touch

  • Consent-based touch, power dynamics, and professional boundaries revisited at a mentor level
  • Trauma-aware considerations and knowing precisely when not to adjust

MODULE 09 – 5 hrs

Practicum, Mentorship & Integration

  • Peer teaching with structured, mentor-level feedback throughout the four weeks
  • Final teaching practicum and a personal development plan for the next stage of your teaching career

ETHICS & PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

The Same Non-Negotiables, Examined More Closely

As practising teachers, you already know these principles in theory. This training asks you to examine them in practice — in the grey areas, the real situations, and your own history in the room.

  • Consent as informed, specific, voluntary, and ongoing — never assumed from silence or compliance
  • The teacher-student relationship as one of trust and responsibility, never romantic or sexual pursuit
  • Teaching that builds a student’s agency and discernment, rather than dependency on the teacher
  • A clear, honestly communicated scope of practice, with appropriate referral when needed
  • Respect for individual anatomical, cultural, and personal difference over one “correct” form
  • Confidentiality, inclusive language, and the ongoing commitment to one’s own continued learning

RISHIKESH

Ceremony, Culture, and the River

Rishikesh is not a backdrop for this training — it is part of the curriculum. In collaboration with the local faculty, the month will include an opening ceremony and intention-setting, a fire ceremony or havan, Ganga Aarti, sunrise meditation by the river, mantra and chanting, temple visits, opportunities for seva, and a closing ceremony and graduation. Every ritual is taught with context, so participation is informed rather than merely observed — and always invitational.

FOUR WEEKS PROGRAM

How the month unfolds

WEEK ONE

Recalibration

What have I actually been teaching — and why?

  • Refreshing the A.W.A.R.E. framework at an advanced level
  • Breath mechanics and foundational anatomy revisited
  • Group agreements and ethics as lived practice
  • Opening ceremony

WEEK TWO

Relationship & Reasoning

How does one part of the body, or one part of my teaching, influence another?

  • Joint mechanics, relative motion, and compensation
  • Sequencing intelligence and cueing precision
  • Pranayama and subtle-body foundations
  • Introduction to Kundalini philosophy

WEEK THREE

Discernment

How do I choose what’s appropriate for the person in front of me?

  • Clinical reasoning and case-study work
  • Kundalini, kriya, mudrā, and bandha
  • Teaching mixed-level and unfamiliar groups
  • Extended peer-teaching with feedback

WEEK FOUR

Integration

How will I embody and share this responsibly, going forward?

  • Full class and workshop design
  • Final teaching practicums
  • Personal development and mentorship planning
  • Ganga ceremony, closing ceremony, graduation

OUTCOMES

What You’ll Leave Able To Do

  • Reason clinically through a student’s body rather than defaulting to a memorised cue
  • Design sequences and full classes around a clear, articulable intention
  • Read a room — physically, energetically, emotionally — before deciding how to respond
  • Teach pranayama, meditation, and introductory Kundalini practices responsibly
  • Hold consent and professional boundaries as a matter of instinct, not just policy
  • Locate and trust your own authentic teaching voice

CLOSING STATEMENT

Knowledgeable Without Becoming Rigid

This training will not hand you more choreography. It will ask harder questions of what you already know:

“Why am I teaching this?”
“Who is the person in front of me?”
“What does this moment require?”
“How can my teaching empower rather than impose?”

The aim is to leave you more confident without becoming more certain — a teacher who honours the depth of the tradition while serving the modern student standing, quite literally, in front of you.
